A YouTube channelfor the business.
Six steps from a Google Account to a channel with a picture, a banner, a description and a first video to point at.
Before you start
Three things,
ready first.
- A Google Account for the businessNot one person's private account: the channel belongs to whoever owns the account.
- A name and a handleThe channel's name, and its @handle, which is its address.
- A square picture and a wide bannerThe sizes are in the table below.
The steps
Step by step,
in this order.
Written from how YouTube works today and kept short on purpose: YouTube moves its menus around more often than anyone else, so the guide names the places and the platform's own help has the click-by-click.
- 1Use a Google Account for the businessSign in to YouTube with an account the business will keep. If several people will manage the channel, create it as a Brand Account (choose to use a custom name when you create the channel), so they can be added as managers.
- 2Create the channelClick your profile picture, choose Create a channel, and type the channel name and a handle. Pick a handle that matches the business's other usernames.
- 3Add the picture and the bannerIn YouTube Studio, choose Customization, then Branding. Upload a square channel picture (800 × 800 px) and a banner (2048 × 1152 px). Keep what matters inside the banner's centre, 1235 × 338 px, which shows on every screen.
- 4Write the description and add the linksUnder Customization, Basic info: say what the channel is for in the first lines (up to 1,000 characters), add your website and other links, and a business e-mail address for enquiries.
- 5Verify the channelIn YouTube Studio, verify the channel with a phone number. It unlocks custom thumbnails and videos longer than 15 minutes.
- 6Upload the first video and set a trailerUpload one video that says what the channel is, then set it as the channel trailer in Customization, Layout, so people who have not subscribed meet it first.

The numbers
Sizes and limits,
to have to hand.
The sizes and the limit YouTube publishes for a channel. They come from YouTube's own guidance, not from the FABLS kit. All platforms side by side: Profile and cover sizes.
Fit your text to its limit with the free Bio writer, or copy a size from the Size cheat sheet.
| Item | Size or limit | Notes |
|---|---|---|

With FABLS
FABLS and YouTube,
said plainly.
FABLS connects YouTube: it uploads videos at the slot's time, brings the comments to the inbox and counts each video's views, likes and comments. Set the channel up with the steps above, then connect it on Channels.
FABLS covers Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube, Google Business Profile and WordPress. A YouTube video has its own slot in the plan, next to the posts FABLS plans for the other channels.
Plain about it: FABLS cannot read or change a channel's profile, and the thumbnail is set in YouTube Studio, so those steps are ticked by hand.
